Manchester has been selected as the first UK city to host a comprehensive test drive of the new Nissan LEAF, acknowledged as the first mass-produced, 100 per cent electric family car in the country.
Six Nissan LEAF models will be available for test drives at Manchester Central, Petersfield, from 9am to 7pm from Monday 9th to Saturday 14th May, as part of a European City Tour.
The City Tour will also showcase an interactive exhibition with games and displays and a stunning 3D film of the LEAF, along with a ‘Jungle of Opinion’ style diary room where customers can record their thoughts about the ground-breaking car. The exhibition will be open until Sunday 15th May until 5pm.
Manchester is one of the first nationwide locations to be named as one of the ‘Plugged-In Places’. Greater Manchester will be investing in electric vehicle charging points and aims to have 300 by October of this year.
David Jackson, EV Project Manager at Nissan, said: “The Nissan LEAF is the world’s first, mass-produced, 100% electric, sustainable family vehicle. It further realises Nissan’s position as an innovative, futuristic, thoughtful car manufacturer and is a great addition to the range we currently have on offer.
“We look forward to inviting drivers in Greater Manchester to the City Tour and providing them with the opportunity to experience the Nissan LEAF for themselves.”
To experience a 30 minute road test in one of these innovative, no petrol, no exhaust pipe and no gearbox cars, with a smooth, near silent drive, customers can book a test drive on Facebook by logging on to http://www.facebook.com/NissanLEAF.UK.*
