American electric bike maker Roehr Motors, USA has just unveiled an electric bike based on the Hyosung GT650R. The bike employs Roehr’s electric drivetrain in place of the 650 cc twin cylinder engine of the standard Hyosung bike. Roehr call it the eSuperSport and is hailed as the best performance electric motorcycle on the planet.
The bike is powered by a a highly efficient AC Induction Motor, with 50Kw or 67bhp of power which is similar to what the petrol powered bike produces. Torque is a healthy 80 lb/ft. With this sort of power the bike is capable of reaching top speeds in excess of 100 mph (161 kmph).
Of course being all electric, the bike needs to be recharged every 75 miles or 121 km. The battery pack comprises of a high discharge, LiFePO4 with 7.7Kwh capacity. The bike can be recharged via a powerful 1500 watt on-board charger in less than 7 hours. The bike is available in the US of A at $17,500.
Roehr Motorcycles LLC was setup in 2008 by Walter Roehrich. At present they offer three models including the newest eSuperSport, the other two being eSuperBike and 1250sc. Walter has had a history of building motorbikes. He has been active in the custom motorbike scene since 2000 when the first Rv500 was released which featured a 500 cc, two-stroke.
